The first Mazda EZ-60 has rolled off the assembly line at the Changan Mazda plant in Nanjing, China. Developed in collaboration with Changan Automobile, the EZ-60 is the brand’s first mid-size electric vehicle (EV) SUV and its second global EV model. Changan Mazda announced that orders for the new EV have already reached 38,000 units as of 4 August.
The Mazda EZ-60 EV is the second model to result from the partnership between Mazda and Changan Automobile, with the first being the Mazda EZ-6 (known as the Mazda 6e in certain markets), a heavily reworked version of the Deepal SL03. Similarly, the EZ-60 is based on the Deepal S07, the latter of which is expected to arrive in Malaysia soon.
While they may be based on a Changan car, Mazda says that their versions represent the continuation of the 15-year legacy of “Kodo” aesthetics. Being a D-segment SUV, it will rival cars such as the Tesla Model Y, the Xiaomi YU7, the BYD Sealion 7, and many more.
Changan Mazda says the car features the industry’s first 4nm automotive-grade chip and multi-modal interactive systems, the first of any car in the world — allowing the car to serve scenario-based travel needs. Along with this, the car boasts a safer construction with a seven-transverse and five-longitudinal armoured cage, 2000MPa ultra-high-strength steel, and a comprehensive active safety system.
To make the production vehicle up to Mazda standards, the company says that nearly RMB200 million (approx. RM118 million) has been invested in the Changan Mazda Nanjing plant. This allows for facilities such as a dedicated production line specifically for new vehicles like the EZ-60.

During the course of its development, Changan Mazda says that they have used over 800 experimental vehicles, conducted over 400 tests, and conducted 1.8 million component verifications. These vehicles were then put through three million km of vehicle testing, over 500,000 km of durability testing, and over two million km of simulated user driving.
Previewed at the Auto Shanghai 2025, the interior of the car sports an ultra-wide 26.45-inch 5K central infotainment display that extends to the passenger side. The dashboard is also kitted with a virtual 3D heads-up display that displays key driving information and is further enhanced with a 23-speaker sound system with integrated speakers inside the front-row headrests.
The Mazda EZ-60 will be offered in two variants. The Standard Range features a rear-mounted electric motor generating 258 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The car is fitted with a 66.8 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) ternary battery capable of 485 km NEDC range.
The higher variant, interestingly, features slightly less power at 218 hp, but maintains the 320 Nm of torque. It carries a larger 79.97 kWh NMC battery pack, which allows for a range of 560 km (NEDC).
