MG Motor Malaysia has officially launched the new rear-wheel drive (RWD) variant of the MG Cyberster in Malaysia, introducing a more accessible entry point to its all-electric roadster lineup. The new variant is priced from RM 299,990 on-the-road without insurance, making it RM19,910 cheaper than the all-wheel drive (AWD) variant.
As its name suggests, the RWD variant is powered by a single, rear-mounted electric motor that produces 340 hp (250 kW) and 475 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.0 seconds. For comparison, the dual-motor AWD variant makes a combined 544 hp and 725 Nm, achieving the same sprint in a quicker 3.2 seconds.
Both MG Cyberster variants are equipped with the same 77 kWh battery pack. This provides the RWD variant with 508 km (WLTP) of range, significantly more than the AWD variant’s 446 km (WLTP) range with the same battery pack. Charging capabilities are also shared, with support for 7 kW AC charging and up to 144 kW DC fast charging, which enables a 10-80% top-up in 38 minutes.
One key difference between the two variants is the wheel size. The RWD variant is equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, while the AWD variant features larger 20-inch wheels. Otherwise, the exterior of the RWD Cyberster is identical to its AWD sibling, featuring the signature powered scissor doors, Union Jack-inspired taillights and LED headlights.

The interior is also shared across both models, dominated by a central wraparound digital display. This setup includes a 10.25-inch central driver’s display flanked by two 7-inch screens for infotainment and vehicle control functions. For safety, the RWD variant comes equipped with a suite of ADAS features, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and blind-spot detection.
The MG Cyberster RWD is priced at RM299,990 and is available in four exterior colours: Dynamic Red, Inca Yellow, Camden Grey, and English White. The latter two colours can be optioned with a red soft top for an additional RM2,000.
Included in the price is a seven-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year or 180,000 km high-voltage battery pack warranty, and an eight-year or 160,000 km drive motor and motor control unit warranty.
To celebrate the launch, the new MG Cyberster RWD is on display at MG Motor Malaysia’s “Dare to Love” Roadshow at 1 Utama Shopping Centre (Old Wing), Ground Floor Centre Court. The roadshow runs from 9 to 13 July 2025, from 10 am to 10 pm daily.
Customers who place a booking during the roadshow will receive an exclusive launch package, including a one-year unlimited charging package with JomCharge, a complimentary 7 kW wallbox charger (excluding installation), and a limited-edition MG Cyberster die-cast model.
