Zeekr 7X to be previewed at Malaysia Autoshow 2025 – BYD and Tesla watch out!

The highly anticipated Zeekr 7X is finally here. Zeekr Malaysia recently published a teaser for the brand’s presence at Malaysia Autoshow 2025 in a Facebook post. And plastered in the centre of the image is none other than the Zeekr 7X, which will be making its official debut here in Malaysia ahead of its official launch sometime this year.

The Zeekr 7X is a mid-sized electric SUV, which will competing directly with the BYD Sealion 7 and the Tesla Model Y. Despite sharing its emblem with other Zeekr models currently in Malaysia, namely the Zeekr X and the Zeekr 009, it actually bears a very different design philosophy with a cool, understated exterior that somehow still emits an imposing aura.

Zeekr calls it their “Hidden Energy” design approach. One standout exterior feature is the Zeekr Stargate headlight, which resembles the front end of a Ferrari 12Cilindri. But instead of a blank panel, it’s an interactive LED display that can project messages and images.

While Zeekr Malaysia hasn’t released local specs, we can look to the Chinese version for insights.

Inside, the 7X features a 16-inch infotainment screen, a 13.02-inch instrument cluster, and is powered by a Snapdragon 8295 chip. Additional features in China include heated and ventilated seats, three-zone climate control, and a CN95 air filter.

The Zeekr 7X is built on Geely’s PMA2+ platform, also used in the Zeekr 007 and Smart #5. Chinese variants come with either a 75 kWh or 100 kWh battery and three trim options.

Both battery sizes can be paired with a single rear motor producing 421 hp and 440 Nm. The 75 kWh version offers 605 km of range (CLTC) and does 0–100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, while the 100 kWh model offers 780 km of range and hits 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.

The dual-motor all-wheel drive option however can only be specified with the 100 kW battery. The two motors produce a combined 646 hp and 710 Nm. It speeds from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and carries a range of 705 km (CLTC).

In China, the 7X also includes a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. It is powered by Nvidia Orin X chips (508 TOPS) to process Zeekr’s “Haohan Intelligent Driving 2.0” ADAS system with semi-autonomous features.

Prices in China start from 229,900 yuan (approx. RM135k) to 269,900 yuan (approx. RM158k), placing it right in between the BYD Sealion 7 and Tesla Model Y. Could we expect Malaysian pricing to follow the same strategy? Let’s hope more is revealed at the upcoming preview.
