Starting next year, Volvo will roll out interface updates for millions of vehicles with built-in Google services. This will give them the latest interface from the Volvo EX90, Volvo EX30, and the recently debuted Volvo XC90 facelift.
A total of 2.5 million existing Volvo models, which manufactured since 2020, will be getting the over-the-air (OTA) update. This include model such as the C40, XC40, EX40, EC40, S60, V60, V60 Cross Country, XC60, S90, V90, V90 Cross Country and XC90 with built-in Android operating system.

All Volvo models, which run on Android Automotive OS, will gain a new home screen that places Google Maps on the top and centre of the screen while the phone connectivity and media controls sit side-by-side, permanently below. This means users will not need to close the navigation system to access vehicle settings or skip songs.
There is a contextual bar sitting underneath all the features on top that adapts to your current situation, displaying recent apps and features. It also includes an icon for the drive modes, a setting currently buried in the menus on the Google system. When driving at low speeds, the outside camera icons become visible to assist with maneuvering in tight spaces.

The Android Automotive OS-based infotainment system was first introduced on the electric Polestar 2 back in March 2017. In Malaysia, the first model to ever grace it was the facelifted Volvo XC60 back in 2021 which gradually rolled out to the rest of the lineup. This means a significant amount of Volvo models will be eligible for the upgrade.
