Volvo Cars has revealed the new 2025 Volvo S90 with plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid variants. It’s currently available in China, with other markets to follow soon.
The new S90 shows off Volvo’s new design language as seen on the latest XC90 launched in Malaysia. The front grille is more extravagant, and is joined by slimmer headlamps featuring Volvo’s signature Thor’s Hammer headlights.
The headlamps are now equipped with new Matrix-design LED technology, for wider and longer light projection. At the back, it’s a little more drastic. Just like the headlights, the rear lights also feature Thor’s Hammer graphics. Aside from that, the front bumper and sculpted bonnet, is also new.

The Volvo S90 is available in several colours, including two new metallic colours offered for the first time – Aurora Silver and Mulberry Red. Complementing the new colours are new diamond-cut alloy wheels with a mix of raw, polished aluminium and high-gloss black paint.

Inside, the interior features new premium materials and enhanced features such as the larger 11.2-inch screen along with enhanced sound insulation. The infotainment screen also features a new user interface that’s not only more responsive but should be identical to the current EX90 and XC90 with Google functions.

For even more comfort, adaptive suspension is offered as standard. You can’t talk about Volvo without mentioning safety in the same sentence. The new S90 has an advanced safety cage, with an enhanced Pilot Assist driver assistance system.
Volvo says the 2025 S90 plug-in hybrid can offer up to 80 kilometres of electric range on a single charge. Internal data have also shown that nearly half of the distance covered by the latest plug-in hybrid Volvo cars are powered purely by electricity.
