Carro loans 30 vehicles to Putra Heights fire victims

Used car marketplace Carro has pledged to loan “at least 30 vehicles” to residents of Putra Heights, who have been affected by the pipeline explosion on April 1, 2025. The company will be working closely with the Ministry of Transport, Selangor state government, and local authorities to coordinate relief efforts.

In a press release, Carro said that the initiative is part of larger aid efforts to help affected residents regain stability and mobility, as they continue with their daily lives.

Affected residents can apply for temporary vehicle assistance through the offices of Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility, Ng Sze Han. Vehicle availability will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Speaking on the initiative, Carro Malaysia CEO Derrick Eng said, “It’s disheartening to witness the extent of impact and damage to the residents, especially during this festive period; and we wish for recovery to those who were injured. We hope our cars can help some residents slowly get back to their daily lives and ease any disruptions.”

Carro is the second company to have pledged vehicle assistance for the victims of the devastating inferno. Yesterday, Chery Malaysia announced that it will be loaning out 50 vehicles to affected residents of Putra Heights and the surrounding area.

Additionally, Minister of Transport Anthony Loke said that discussions are also underway to secure motorcycles for over 70 victims.

According to the latest report from the Selangor police, as many as 427 victims from 91 families have been confirmed to be involved in the fire incident, caused by the explosion of a gas pipeline at Putra Heights, USJ. Over 235 homes and 225 vehicles also suffered various damages and losses due to radiation heat from the fire.
