Zeekr Malaysia and Carro have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) today at Carro’s flagship store in Puchong, Selangor, to mark the appointment of Carro as its latest authorised dealer in Malaysia.
The MOU includes plans to establish four new Zeekr showrooms and three Carro Care workshops to support retail and after-sales support.
Carro is Asia-Pacific’s largest online automotive marketplace, and this MOU marks a significant milestone as the company expands its new car sales into Malaysia. This follows the company’s operations in Singapore, where it began selling parallel-imported cars, supported by in-house warranties and aftersales services from Carro Care.
Currently, there are three Zeekr showrooms in Malaysia, which are known as Zeekr Space. These are located in Petaling Jaya, IOI Mall Puchong, and Sunway Pinnacle. In the coming months, four new Zeekr Space showrooms are set to open in Juru Autocity, Seremban, Klang Valley, and Johor Bahru.
Zeekr aims to to establish 10 showrooms across Malaysia by the end of 2025, with the next phase of expansion targeting Sabah and Sarawak. This was announced by Alex Bao, Managing Director of Zeekr Southeast Asia, in his opening remarks.
“This momentum reinforces our commitment to expanding our presence in Malaysia, and our partnership with Carro represents a significant milestone in that direction, enhancing both our sales network and after-sales capabilities to better support our customers. This collaboration also aligns with our broader business strategy as we prepare for the introduction of our next important model, the Zeekr 7X,” he added.
CEO of International Marketplace at Carro, Fong Hon Sum, stated that Carro is looking forward to the growing Malaysian market for electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrids and is ready to provide these services to Malaysians who are interested in switching to EVs.
“We’re seeing a growing market in Malaysia for hybrid and electric vehicles, with developing infrastructure and tax exemptions in place, and we’re ready to provide these services to Malaysians who are keen to make the switch to EVs. Our expertise within the EV sector has us well-placed to handle inspections, repairs, and maintenance, and we’re so excited to have Zeekr as our partner,” said Fong.
