Geely, in collaboration with its Thai distributor, Thonburi Group, has successfully delivered the first batch of the right-hand drive Geely EX5 to 84 owners in Thailand. This event marks a significant milestone in Geely’s globalisation strategy and coincides with Thonburi Group’s 84th anniversary.
The Geely EX5, being the global-market counterpart of the Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7), was launched in Thailand late last year during the 41st Thailand International Motor Expo.
To date, orders for the Geely EX5 in Thailand have exceeded 1,000 units since its launch. The Chinese carmaker plans to expand its presence to over 30 locations in Thailand by the end of 2025.
In China, the 100,000th Geely EX5 (called the Galaxy E5) rolled off the production line six months after the model’s debut in August 2024. Additionally, the company delivered 77,685 units in 2024, claiming it as the fastest A-Class all-electric SUV to reach this milestone in China.

The Geely EX5 is powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 218 hp (160 kW) and 320 Nm. It uses Geely’s Aegis short blade battery, available in two capacities: a 49.52 kWh pack offering a CLTC range of 440 km, and a 60.22 kWh pack offering 530 km.
Charging is supported by AC power up to 11 kW and DC fast charging up to 100 kW, with the latter enabling a 30-80% charge in just 20 minutes.
Closer to home, the Proton eMAS 7, has now recorded 1,000 deliveries since its launch in December 2024. To date, Pro-Net, Proton’s new energy vehicle subsidiary, has secured over 4,500 bookings for the model. The national carmaker also recently initiated export operations of the eMAS 7 to Nepal, Singapore, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The Proton eMAS 7’s powertrain specification mirrors that of the Geely EX5’s global specs, although DC charging is segregated to 80 kW on the Prime, and 100 kW on the more expensive Premium variant. Range is also rated at 345 km and 410 km (WLTP) for the Prime and Premium respectively.
