Geely Galaxy E5 hits 100,000 production milestone in just 6 months

Just six months after its launch in China, the 100,000th Geely Galaxy E5 has rolled off the production line, CarNewsChina reports. The Galaxy E5, of course, is the Chinese counterpart to our very own Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7), which is also currently assembled in China.

The Geely Galaxy E5 has achieved 77,685 deliveries in 2024, making it – according to Geely – the fastest A-Class all-electric SUV to reach this milestone in China.

More than 40,000 units were delivered within 85 days of its August 2024 launch, and over 60,000 units within three months, averaging a monthly sales of 15,000 units per month.

Powering the Geely Galaxy E5 is a front-mounted electric motor producing 218 hp (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque. The Galaxy E5 utilise Geely’s Aegis short blade battery, available in two capacities: a 49.52 kWh pack offering a CLTC-rated range of 440 km, and a larger 60.22 kWh pack offering a range of 530 km (CLTC).

Charging is supported by AC charging up to 11 kW and DC fast charging up to 100 kW, the latter enabling a 30-80% charge in just 20 minutes.

The Geely Galaxy E5 has also recently debuted in Thailand and Indonesia as the Geely EX5. The Chinese carmaker is also establishing a factory in Indonesia to locally assemble (CKD) the Galaxy EX5, alongside internal combustion engine (ICE) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, with production slated to begin in Q2 2025.

Closer to home, Pro-Net reports that bookings for the Proton eMAS 7 have neared 4,000 units, with most buyers opting for the Premium variant. The subsidiary of Proton is targeting to deliver 1,000 units of the eMAS 7 by the end of February 2025.

Reflecting the strong demand, Pro-Net recently extended its RM4,000 rebate and special launch package for the first 6,000 Proton eMAS 7 customers (up from the initial 3,000). With the rebate, the eMAS 7 is priced at RM105,800 for the Prime variant and RM119,800 for the Premium.
