Proton eMAS 7 deliveries reach 1,000 units in Malaysia two months after launch

Just a little over two months since the launch of the Proton eMAS 7, Pro-Net – a subsidiary of Proton for electric vehicles (EV) – announced that 1,000 units of the EV SUV have been successfully delivered in Malaysia.

In an official press statement, Pro-Net says that they have secured over 4,500 out of 6,000 bookings for the Proton eMAS 7. Further adding that they are confident in fulfilling the remaining bookings made possible by the special launch package extension.

The extension came after the original fulfilment of 3,000 bookings in less than one month, which was then extended to 6,000 bookings to give more prospecting buyers access to the early adopter pricing and benefits. The special launch power package extension lowers the pricing of the Proton eMAS 7 to RM105,800 for the Prime variant, and RM119,800 for the range-topping Premium variant.

Additionally, Pro-Net also says that the eMAS 7 had captured 25% of the total EV market in Malaysia, beating out the likes of its competitors such as the BYD Sealion 7 and BYD M6.

“The success of the eMAS 7 is a reflection of our commitment to providing a compelling EV proposition that aligns with the needs of Malaysian consumers. Our goal is not just to sell cars, but to foster a complete ecosystem that ensures a seamless and confident transition to electric mobility,” says Pro-Net CEO Zhang Qiang.

Launched in December 2024, the Proton eMAS 7 comes in two variants: Prime and Premium. Both are equipped with the same single front-mounted electric motor with a max output of 218 hp (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque. Both variants share the top speed of 175 km/h. However, the Prime variant has a century sprint time of 6.9 seconds, while the Premium variant has a 7.1-second 0-100 km/h time.

The difference is down to their battery sizes, which affects the vehicle’s weight. The Prime variant has a 49.52 kWh battery pack with 345 km of WLTP-rated EV range, while the Premium variant has a bigger 60.22 kWh battery pack rated at 410 km in WLTP EV range. Both variants get an on-board 11 kW AC charger, but the Premium has faster DC fast charging support at up to 100 kW, as opposed to 80 kW on the Prime.
