Video: First EV pickup! JAC T9EV now in Malaysia, RM200K

Want a fully-electric (EV) pickup truck like the Maxus T90 EVs TNB uses? Well, you’re in luck! Along with the launch of the JAC T9 pickup truck, the electrified JAC T9EV pickup is now available for sale to the public in Malaysia. But what’s the difference between the pure diesel and EV variants?

To start, the JAC T9 has a price tag starting at RM119,888, whilst the JAC T9EV is priced at RM199,888 on-the-road (OTR) without insurance. The T9 diesel gets an eight-year unlimited mileage engine warrant and a five-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, while the T9EV has a six-year or 200,000 km warranty for the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.

The JAC T9 sports a traditional 2.0-litre turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that puts down 170 hp and 410 Nm of torque to all four wheels. Paired to the engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission connected to the part time 4×4 drivetrain, which gives the pure diesel pickup a 150 km/h top speed.

For the JAC T9EV, it is an all-electric affair with twin electric motors on the front and rear axles. Altogether, it delivers a total of 299 hp (220 kw) and 516 Nm of torque. That pure electric power results in a 0-100 km/h time of 8.4 seconds and top speed of 140 km/h.

Furthermore, the JAC T9EV rocks an 88 kW LFP battery pack under the hood. The battery pack has a WLTP-rated EV range of 340 km, and supports both 11 kW AC and 88 kW DC fast charging.
