Rolls-Royce has unveiled the next member of the family bearing the Black Badge name, and it is the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Spectre. The latest car in the Black Badge line – which includes the likes of Black Badge Ghost and Black Badge Wraith – is quite possibly the most Black Badge model yet.
The Black Badge series, which Rolls-Royce has frequently referred to as its “alter ego”, is all about going against the status quo – or being the bad boy in simple terms. Well, nothing shouts bad more than having more power – even more than what the Spectre EV already had.
With 659 hp (483 kW) and a landmark 1,075 Nm of torque on tap, which are made possible via ‘Infinity Mode’ and ‘Spirited Mode’ respectively, the Black Badge Spectre joins the line-up as the most powerful Rolls-Royce vehicle ever made. How’s that for being rebellious?
Interestingly, unlike most usual car launches, Rolls-Royce had also given a select group of individuals early access to the Black Badge Spectre. Why so? Well, it’s to give Rolls-Royce feedback on how to fine-tune the car for a more intense driving experience.
Based on anonymised driver data, Rolls-Royce found that Spectre drivers most likely need power for short bursts of acceleration, rather than over extended periods of time. This results in the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Spectre now going 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, much faster compared to the standard Spectre’s 4.6 seconds.
The WLTP-rated EV range of the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Spectre lands somewhere in between 493 km to 530 km. Battery information for the Black Badge Spectre is unknown, but for comparison’s sake, the standard Rolls-Royce Spectre comes with a 107 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
Charging is supported at 22 kW for AC inputs and 195 kW with a DC fast charging, the latter is said to provide 372 km of range in 36 minutes of charging.
On the outside, the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Spectre is dressed up with a daring purple paint dubbed ‘Vapour Violet’. The paint that is inspired by neon club lights of the 80s and 90s is garnished with the Illuminated Pantheon Grille, Illuminated Black Badge treadplates, and Illuminated Fascia.
While not pictured in the marketing images, the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Spectre is also available with a contrasting ‘Iced Black’ paintjob for its bonnet. Additionally, it sits on 23-inch five-spoke forged aluminium wheels. Of course, being a Rolls-Royce also means the world is your oyster when it comes to customisation.
On the inside, the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Spectre is furnished from end to end with hand-crafted carbon fibre and metal fittings on top of a wood base. An illuminated infinity symbol is present in the cabin, followed by 5,500 fibre optic ‘stars’ fitted in the headliner.
