The final piece of the puzzle for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today is the Mercedes-AMG SL63 4Matic+, which will join the line-up alongside the SL43 that was launched here in August last year.
Fully imported from Germany, the Mercedes-AMG S63 4Matic+ is priced at RM1,898,888 on-the-road and without insurance here in Malaysia. A four-year unlimited-mileage warranty is included as standard.
While the S63 is not the top-of-the-range AMG roadster model globally any more (that title now belongs to the SL63 S E-Performance PHEV, which has also been hinted for a launch in Malaysia soon!), the Mercedes-AMG SL63 4Matic+ still stands out against the SL43 with the full fat AMG kit, including the more aggressive bumper designs with carbon fibre inserts, carbon fibre wing mirrors, and the chrome delete treatment that also covers the 21-inch AMG 10-twin-spoke alloys.
There are yellow brake calipers here, too, as you’d expect on a high-performance vehicle, and they’re also complemented by the quad square-ish tailpipes at the rear, instead of the oval ones on the SL43. The Digital Light headlights with AMG light display is standard across both models, however.
The key difference between the two, though, are their powertrains underneath the low-slung long bonnet. Instead of the four-pot in the SL43, the Mercedes-AMG SL63 4Matic+ gets a true “one-man, one-engine” 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 585 hp and 800 Nm on offer.
Paired to the AMG Speedshift MCT 9G nine-speed automatic gearbox and a fully-variable AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system, the CL63 sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds (4.9s on the SL43), and will top out at 315 km/h if you keep your foot pinned to the ground.

The Mercedes-AMG SL63 4Matic+ also gets the AMG Active Ride Control suspension with active anti-roll stabilisation and active rear-wheel steering, working together with the AMG locking rear differential to provide a sharper driving experience befitting its status.
The latter is part of the AMG Dynamic Plus package, that also includes dynamic AMG engine mounts, alongside an additional Race mode that joins the existing Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual modes.
Inside, the SL63 differentiates itself with carbon fibre trims on the dashboard, centre console, and door cards, instead of the aluminium or piano black items on the SL43. Otherwise, though, you’re getting pretty much the same equipment on both variants, including the 11.9-inch portrait centre touchscreen running the latest MBUX operating system, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, AMG Performance steering wheel, Nappa leather upholstery, 11 speaker Burmester sound system, and an Airscarf function built into the seats.
You’ll definitely want to use the Airscarf, considering you’ll be driving the car with the roof down as much as possible – it’s the first soft-top SL since 2001 after all. That fabric roof, by the way, opens in just 15 seconds and is operable at speeds up to 60 km/h.
