2023 Mercedes-AMG SL 43 pricing confirmed for Malaysia – 381 hp, 480 Nm, from RM999,888

Following its preview in Sepang earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has now confirmed the official pricing for the all-new 2023 Mercedes-AMG SL here on our shores. Available in a single SL 43 variant, the Mercedes-AMG-exclusive roadster model is priced from RM999,888 on-the-road, without insurance, or approximately RM9,088 monthly with the company’s Step Up Agility+ financing programme.

As the entry-level model in the line-up, the Mercedes-AMG SL 43 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four mill, augmented with a 48V mild-hybrid system to make a total system output of 381 hp and 480 Nm. Aiding its performance is also a world’s first electric exhaust gas turbocharger in a series-produced car, which supposedly uses F1 technology to help improve the engine’s response throughout the entire engine speed range.

Paired to a nine-speed AMG Speedshift multi-clutch transmission, the Mercedes-AMG SL 43 sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, with power driving just the rear wheels. Top speed meanwhile is rated at 275 km/h.

For the money, you’ll also be getting a wide range of performance-focused kit, including the standard-fit sports suspension utilising multi-link geometries for both the front and rear axles (a first for a production series Mercedes-AMG), AMG High-performance compound brakes, 21-inch AMG 10-twin-spoke forged alloys, and something called “AMG Real Performance Sound” that, while doesn’t explicitly help with performance, at least gives you a more emotive driving experience thanks to the engine sounds being piped into the cabin.

Looks wise, the 2023 Mercedes-AMG SL 43 in Malaysia comes as standard with the AMG exterior chrome package, which pairs the shiny trims on the outside to silver-painted brake calipers. It’s also equipped with Digital Light headlights from the factory, with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus feature.

Inside, standard items include the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 11.9-inch portrait infotainment display, the latter able to be tilted electrically to reduce glare when the roof is open, black Nappa leather upholstery, AMG performance steering wheel, and a choice between the AMG aluminium or piano black trims.

On the mention of the roof, Mercedes-Benz says that its three-layer fabric soft-top takes just about 15 seconds to operate, at speeds of up to 60 km/h, particularly thanks to the Z-fold design that also simultaneously helps save space in the boot for storage.

According to the configurator on Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s website, the 2023 Mercedes-AMG SL 43 will be offered in Malaysia in six colours, including the SL-exclusive Hyper Blue, Sun Yellow, Selenite Grey, Obsidian Black, Spectral Blue, and High-tech Silver.
