Video: MG5 B-segment sedan previewed in Malaysia, est under RM100k


MG Motor Malaysia has showcased the MG5, a non-electric B-segment sedan model. The vehicle is expected to be priced below RM100,000 and will be available in a single variant upon launch. This follows the recent introduction of two electric models by the brand in the Malaysian market.

Dimension-wise, the MG5 measures 4,675 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase measuring 2,680 mm long. It comes with a set of 17-inch wheels that are wrapped in 215/50R17 tyres.

The MG5 comes standard with LED headlights with auto on/off system, daytime running lights (DRLs), LED taillights, and electrically foldable and adjustable side mirrors with turn signals. It also has a sunroof, rear spoiler, red brake callipers, and 17-inch Tomahawk alloy wheels.

Powering the MG5 is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, making 114 hp (metric) and 150 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels (FWD) only via a continuously variable transmission (iCVT) with an 8-speed simulated gear. The MG5 comes with disc brakes all around, with ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the back.

Interior-wise, the MG5 comes standard with leather upholstery, a 6-way electric driver seat, a 4-way manually-operated front passenger seat, automatic power windows, a digital air conditioning system with PM 2.5 air filter, and air vents for rear passengers. It also features a Smart Key System with a push start button, a 6-speaker sound system, a 7-inch LCD digital multi-function display, and a 10.25-inch colour touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In terms of safety features, the MG5 is equipped with a 3D surround view camera, Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), cruise control, blind spot assist, and dual front and side airbags. Watch the video to find out more!
