2024 GAC GS3 Emzoom scores 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating


Not long after the ASEAN NCAP crash test results of the Chery Omoda 5 were revealed, the GAC GS3 Emzoom has also managed to score a 5-star rating. Now locally assembled in Malaysia, the unit used for the crash test was a fully imported (CBU) unit.

The GAC GS3 Emzoom scored 29.28/32.00 for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 41.91/51.00 for Child Occupant Protection (COP), 18.75/21.00 for Safety Assist (SA), and 14.00/16.00 for Motorcyclist Safety (MS). This results in an overall score of 88.39 points (weighted score) and a 5-star overall rating.

Basic safety items on the GAC GS3 Emzoom include 6 airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for frontal occupants, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB Inter-Urban, AEB Pedestrian, Blind Spot Visualization (BSV) for both driver and passenger sides of the vehicle, Auto High Beam (AHB) and Pedestrian Protection (PP) technology

It also offers advanced safety assist technologies. This includes Adaptive cruise control (ACC), autonomous emergency braking (AEB), front collision warning (FCW), traffic sign recognition (TSR), lane departure warning (LDW), intelligent speed limit control system, high beam assist (HMA), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and blind spot vision (BSV). An exclusive item for the Premium R variant is its fusion automatic parking assist (FAPA) system.

Set to rival the likes of the Proton X50, the GAC GS3 Emzoom is powered by a .5-litre turbocharged engine that adds 1 extra cylinder over the Proton X50. Yes, the GAC GS3 Emzoom gets a 4-cylinder engine and it makes 177 hp and 270 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission and power is sent to the front wheels only. This setup enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.0 seconds and a claimed average fuel consumption of 5.9 l/100km.

Launched in Malaysia as a fully imported (CBU ) unit in April 2024, a new locally assembled (CKD) version was launched in August 2024. It is now available as a single variant with a new price tag of RM126,800.
