Warisan Tan Chong Automotif (WTCA), a Tan Chong Group company responsible for distributing and assembling GAC vehicles in Malaysia, has begun exporting the GAC GS3 Emzoom to Vietnam.
Assembled locally at the company’s Segambut plant, it marks the facility’s first export of a left-hand-drive (LHD) model. The first shipment of the CKD GAC GS3 Emzoom units is scheduled to depart in June 2026.
To make this possible, the company says its Segambut plant was upgraded to meet GAC’s export requirements. Specific body jigs were enhanced to accommodate left-hand-drive production, ensuring full compliance with GAC International standards.
WTCA added that the export initiative involved close collaboration with Malaysian vendors as part of its localisation efforts. The company expects the programme to create more job opportunities, enhance workforce skills, support local engineering expertise, and encourage greater participation by Malaysian vendors in regional automotive export activities.
WTCA says that its developments have garnered a strong foundation for the local vendor programmes to prepare for a second left-hand drive model from the Segambut plant.

The company also revealed that WTCA and GAC International are actively exploring the local assembly (CKD) of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in Malaysia, but stopped short of announcing any information. Beyond serving the domestic market, these vehicles could also be exported to other ASEAN countries.
Warisan TC Holdings Chief Executive Officer (CEO), James Tan, said, “The export of the locally assembled left-hand drive GAC GS3 Emzoom to Vietnam is a proud achievement for WTCA and it underscores the strength of our automotive group’s collaboration with GAC International. It demonstrates the proven experience of Tan Chong Group’s local assembly capabilities as a full CKD plant which includes painting facilities to produce the highest quality of Malaysian-made vehicles. This milestone also highlights our readiness to support GAC’s regional growth strategy.”

“We are grateful and deeply appreciative of the ongoing support and guidance from GAC International, as well as the strategic backing from key government agencies such as MITI, MIDA and MARii. Their collaboration has been instrumental in making this export programme a reality. This achievement reflected the success of Malaysia’s National Automotive Policy in strengthening local manufacturing, vendor localisation programs and further solidifying Malaysia’s position as a key automotive hub in ASEAN,” he added.
The GAC GS3 Emzoom is an aggressively styled B-segment SUV powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, producing 177 hp and 270 Nm sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Notable interior features include a surround-view camera, dual-screen digital cockpit and panoramic sunroof. Here in Malaysia, the locally assembled GAC GS3 Emzoom is priced from RM116,800 for the Exclusive and RM126,800 for the Premium R, on-the-road without insurance.
