After the X (editors note: not the website) was first spotted in Malaysia some two months ago, it’s now the Zeekr 009’s turn to make an appearance here in Malaysia, hinting at an imminent launch for both models here given that both of them were spotted without any camouflage.
Judging by a photo published to the Malaysia EV Owners Club (MyEVOC) group on Facebook by Yuri Iskandar, it appears that the Zeekr 009 will be arriving at our shores in the facelifted form, which was just unveiled globally last month.
Specifications wise, our car here in Malaysia should largely mirror that of Hong Kong, which will be the first right-hand drive (RHD) market for the luxury MPV. That means an all-wheel drive set-up, powered by a 400V architecture (as opposed to the 800V available in China), paired to a 116 kWh battery pack for a driving range of 582 km (WLTP).
Detailed powertrain specifications for the RHD model are not available just yet. In China, the Zeekr 009 is now offered in both front- and dual-motor configurations, the former being a new addition to the line-up with outputs rated at 421 hp (310 kW) and 440 Nm, sufficient for a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds.
The dual-motor variant meanwhile gets a power boost to 789 hp (580 kW) and 810 Nm, matching the 009 Grand variant that was launched earlier this year, resulting in a 0-100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds.
A 108 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery is standard on both variants, capable of being recharged from 10-80% in just 11.5 minutes courtesy of the 800V architecture. Range is rated at 702 km and 740 km (CLTC) for the FWD and RWD variants respectively, although customers can opt for a bigger 140 kWh battery that raises the range up to 900 km and 850 km (CLTC) – at the cost of slower charging as it necessitates a switch to a 400V electrical architecture.

The biggest addition to the 2024 Zeekr 009 facelift is the addition of a seven-seater option, arranged in a 2-2-3 layout with executive seats in the centre row, which the carmaker says should be more suitable for families or people carrier duties.
With sights set on the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire, the new Zeekr 009 is also filled to the brim with luxury appointments, including a 15.05-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system, a 17-inch OLED ceiling-mounted display for the rear passengers, ‘Sofaro’ Nappa leather upholstery, a 8.6-litre mini fridge, power sliding doors, and a 30-speaker Yamaha sound system.
The LiDAR sensor, now standard across the range, also enables a full suite of advanced driver assistance features including autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane change assist, blind spot monitoring, cross traffic alert, and automatic parking assist. A “Level 2+” semi-autonomous driving capability is also available at extra cost.
