2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB facelift teased for Malaysia, launching soon

Following the launch of the GLE facelift, only one SUV in Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s lineup has yet to be refreshed. And it is the Mercedes-Benz GLB. It is only natural that the GLB should be refreshed as even its sister model, the GLA, has been updated in Malaysia earlier. You won’t have to wait any longer though as Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has just dropped a teaser for the GLB facelift.

Like the GLA facelift, this update to the GLB gives it new light clusters at the front and back and a new grille. The overall shape of the car and the trim design isn’t affected as much. The new headlight cluster is already being teased and hopefully, it doesn’t turn out to become reflector LEDs like the GLA 200 (as the teaser suggested projector LEDs).

The interior of the GLB facelift gets the same treatment as the A-Class facelift and GLA facelift where the “touchpad” control unit on the centre console for the head unit has been omitted to make way for a shallow storage compartment. This has perhaps made it easier for Mercedes-Benz to update the head unit with the latest NTG7 MBUX system. And while that nice feature has been omitted, you do at least get wireless Apple Carplay and wireless Android Auto connectivity.

Another update to the GLB would be the new Mercedes-Benz steering wheel which can now be seen in the facelifted A-Class and GLA. The new steering wheel features more capacitive-based controls in both the standard and AMG versions.

With the facelift, all petrol Mercedes-Benz GLB facelift variants are now electrified with a 48 Volt mild hybrid (MHEV) system. Globally the GLB is available with both petrol and diesel engines, but in Malaysia, it is only available in petrol options. The GLB’s current lineup in Malaysia consists of the GLB 200, GLB 250 4MATIC, and the AMG GLB 35 MATIC. The new facelift should be launching soon.
