Previewed in Malaysia since 2023, the Mercedes-AMG C43 4MATIC has finally been launched with a price tag of RM443,888. It adds a third option to the W206 C-Class body, now joining the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C200 and the Mercedes-Benz C350e.
Based on the W206’s underpinnings, the Mercedes-AMG C43’s highlight is its beefier performance. The heart of the car is a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that can output 408 hp at 6,750 rpm and 500 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The C43’s powertrain is a 48V mild hybrid (MHEV) which means the 2.0-litre turbocharged mill gets assistance from an integrated starter generator (ISG). The ISG provides a boost of 14 hp. As for its transmission, the C43 uses a 9-speed AMG Speedshift multi-clutch gearbox.

With all systems working harmoniously, the C43 is capable of a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. To stop, the C43 is equipped with 4-piston callipers at the front and 1-piston callipers at the back. The C43 also gets an adaptive damping system for its suspension as well as rear-axle steering.
Singing the tune of the 2.0-litre turbocharged mill is an AMG exhaust system that features an exhaust gas flap. This allows for varying exhaust tunes depending on the selected drive mode.
