Gallery: 2023 Mercedes-Benz A 200 facelift, RM234k – Entry ticket to the world of luxury sedans

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz A 200 facelift made its launch here in Malaysia at the Sepang International Circuit back in June this year. Priced at RM238,888 (OTR, without insurance), the Mercedes-Benz A 200 is positioned as the brand’s most affordable sedan.

On the outside, the changes Mercedes-Benz has made to its facelifted A 200 sedan over its predecessor are rather minor. This includes the redesigned headlights, tail lights, 17-inch wheels, a larger grille, and new bumpers. The hood power bulges which were only available on the AMG A 45 are now standard for all facelifted A-Class models, including the A 200.

Powering the facelifted Mercedes-Benz A 200 is now a 48V mild hybrid system, which still houses a Renault-sourced 1.3-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), this setup delivers a total of 163 hp and 270 Nm to the front wheels.

The mild hybrid system’s electric motor is also able to provide an extra 14 hp under boost mode. Going from 0 to 100 km/h with the 2023 Mercedes-Benz A 200 facelift takes 8.3 seconds, and its top speed is rated at 230 km/h.

Just like its exterior, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz A 200 facelift’s interior has also undergone minor tweaks, with the most significant change being the absence of the touchpad that used to be on the centre console. The space is now just a shallow storage space.

The facelifted A 200 also comes with a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument display, as well as a 10.25-inch touchscreen head unit which now runs on the MBUX (NTG7.0). The head unit also comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, with the CarPlay display now occupying the entire screen.

Also new here is the latest leather-wrapped Mercedes-Benz steering wheel which features capacitive controls. The luxury sedan’s HVAC controls retain the physical button layout and it also features the brand’s signature 64-colour ambient lighting system.

Other features found in the facelifted Mercedes-Benz A 200 include electrically adjustable comfort seats which come with memory function and are wrapped in Artico man-made leather upholstery. The Velour floor mats and auto-dimming interior mirror are also included as standard.

In the safety department, the facelifted Mercedes-Benz A 200 is equipped with advanced active safety features such as active parking assist, lane tracing package, and blind spot assist. Active lane-keeping assist, exit warning assist, and active brake assist are also included.
