2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift teased for Malaysia, launching soon

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is teasing a new model ahead of its launch in the country and it appears to be the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift. Shown in a heavily shadowed image for now, the new headlights of the GLA are easily identifiable with their new cluster design. Accompanying the teaser image in the social media post is a tagline that reads “Get set to go all the way”.

The Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift was first unveiled to the world in March 2023, not long after the A-Class facelift was unveiled in late 2022. The GLA is based on the A-Class hatchback and as such, its updates are also quite similar. On the outside, the design refresh is highlighted by the new light cluster design. The grille and the bumpers have been revised too.

Inside, the facelifted GLA gets a new steering wheel and the latest MBUX operating system (NTG7). Like the A-Class hatchback and sedan, the GLA also now makes do without the “touchpad control” on the centre console for the head unit. Users will now have to use the infotainment screen directly or navigate it via the capacitive controls on the steering wheel.

Globally, the GLA facelift is made available in 4 petrol variants, 1 PHEV variant, 4 diesel variants, as well as 2 AMG variants. Malaysia will most likely welcome 2 non-AMG petrol variants and one AMG variant of the GLA. The 4 petrol variants that Mercedes-Benz offers are the GLA 180, GLA 200, GLA 220 4MATIC, and the GLA 250 4MATIC. AMG versions include the GLA 45 S 4MATIC+ as well as the GLA 35.

The GLA 200 costs, RM254,888, the GLA 250 costs RM287,888, while the GLA 35 fetches a price of RM370,888. Mercdes-Benz Malaysia has yet to announce the launch date for the Mercedes-Benz GLA facelift for Malaysia.

Together with the new GLA facelift, the GLB facelift was also unveiled early last year. Combined with the new EQA facelift and EQB facelift, the entire “A-Class-based” model lineup has been given a refresh. Only the facelifted A-Class hatchback and sedan have been launched in Malaysia.
