Locally assembled (CKD) in Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s plant in Pekan, Pahang, the new GLE is currently RM13,000 costlier than it was before. On the outside, it gets redesigned headlights and taillights and is dressed with the AMG Line exterior package. The latter gets you the new diamond pin radiator grille, and a set of 21-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels, along with larger disc brakes.
Powering the facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4MATIC in Malaysia is a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine with 48V mild hybrid (MHEV) assistance. This setup produces 381 hp and 500 Nm, which is 14 hp more than the previous iteration of the GLE.
Part of the 48 MHEV system is the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) that provides a temporary boost of 20 hp and 200 Nm for snappier acceleration. Paired with the engine is a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. Power is sent to all four wheels via the marque’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Inside, the Mercedes-Benz GLE450 facelift in Malaysia is equipped with the brand’s latest-generation steering wheel. Its twin 12.3-inch display setup has been updated to support wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto connectivity.
On the safety side of things, the Malaysian-spec Mercedes-Benz GLE450 facelift is packed with the marque’s Driving Assistance Package Plus, adding in features like Active Steering Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, and PRE-SAFE Impulse Side pre-collision system to the SUV. Also included is the Parking System Generation 5.0 package, which reintroduces the Perpendicular parking functionality to the Active Parking Assistant system.
