The distributor for Smart vehicles in Malaysia, PRO-NET, has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure network across Smart and Proton Edar dealerships nationwide. Since installing its first Proton DC Charger at the brand’s headquarters in October last year, PRO-NET has collaborated with its partner, Gentari, to build six DC chargers, totalling 12 charging bays, with each bay equipped with two nozzles. The chargers are deployed across seven Proton Edar dealerships.
This rollout includes one unit each of 50 kW, 100 kW, and 120 kW chargers, as well as three units of 60 kW DC chargers. The chargers can be found at Proton Edar dealerships located in areas such as Shah Alam, Kuantan, Sungai Petani, Senai, and Bukit. One of the chargers is located at the brand’s dealership at Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
Aside from the Proton Edar dealerships, PRO-NET has also installed 5 DC chargers and 13 AC chargers, with 22 charging bays throughout the Smart dealership network. This charging network offers DC chargers of different outputs including one unit of 25 kW, two units of 60 kW, and two units of 120 kW chargers. The 13 AC chargers on the other hand are capable of outputting 11 kW.
PRO-NET says its chargers are all open to be utilised by electric vehicles (EVs) of all makes. However, it acknowledges that the chargers at two of Hap Seng’s dealerships are presently reserved for Smart and Mercedes-Benz EVs only. Beyond Peninsular Malaysia, PRO-NET is also intending to expand its charging network to East Malaysia, with imminent plans to introduce additional charging infrastructure as part of its dealership expansion network in Sabah.
