Kia K4 sedan teased, Civic-fighter to debut in March

Kia has just released images of the upcoming Kia K4 sedan. Set to be the official successor to the brand’s Cerato/Forte sedan, the K4 is scheduled for a global design reveal on March 21 and will be making its official debut on March 27 at the New York Auto Show. It will also be competing against C-segment sedans such as the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and the Hyundai Elantra.

In case you are confused, the Kia Cerato/Forte was indeed known as the K3 in certain markets. However, the K3 nameplate has been used for the brand’s new B-segment sedan, which made its debut in Mexico in August last year, replacing the Rio.

The K4 nameplate was previously used for a China-exclusive model and was sold from 2014 to 2020. Now the name is being used for this upcoming model which will be sold globally.

Looking at the shadowy teaser images of the Kia K4 provided by the Korean carmaker, we can see the car sporting the trending fastback sedan profile. Interestingly, the window panel behind the C-pillar has also been cut short, resulting in a lack of the Hofmeister kink. The car’s rear door handles appear to be hidden at the bottom of its C-pillars.

As for its headlights and taillights, we can see the K4 carrying Kia’s latest design language with the boomerang-shaped lights that droop downwards at the sides of the car. This design can be seen implemented on Kia’s recent models like the all-new K3 and the Sorento facelift.

Kia says the K4 will not only provide ample space and practicality but also a “pure sporting ambience”. Thus far, the carmaker has yet to announce any specifications related to its upcoming sedan just yet aside from the design teasers. But what do you think of the K4 so far?
