Mitsubishi Motors Thailand is teasing the debut of the new Mitsubishi Xpander Hybrid which is set to take place on February 1, 2024. Through a social media post, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand is also announcing the debut of the Xpander Cross Hybrid. The teaser also suggests an “e:Motion” moniker for the Xpander Hybrid.
The news of the hybrid Xpander is not new as Mitsubishi has even revealed this in its 2023 financial presentation which showed the Xpander Hybrid (HEV), new Colt, ASX, new compact SUV (XForce), all-new Triton, as well as the Delica Mini.

Details of the Xpander hybrid’s powertrain are still unknown except for the fact that it will be a hybrid one. However, the social post by Mitsubishi Motors Thailand suggests a full hybrid powertrain that won’t require plug-in charging. It will also most likely not be a mild-hybrid, so a properly sized battery is likely for the Xpander Hybrid.
Currently powering the petrol Mitsubishi Xpander is a 1.5-litre MIVEC engine that outputs 105 hp (metric) and 141 Nm. Paired with the engine is a 4-speed automatic gearbox which sends power to the front wheels only. The engine could be carried over into the hybrid system but that is only a possibility for now.

The teaser image released by Mitsubishi Motors Thailand suggests some typical hybris styling elements like blue accents on the wheels as well as a blue beltline on the sides of the 7-seater MPV. There also appears to be a hybrid badge on the front doors of the car.
In Malaysia, the Mitsubishi Xpander is currently offered in one variant only and it competes against the likes of the Perodua Aruz, Honda BR-V, and Toyota Veloz. The Mitsubishi Xpander in Malaysia fetches a price of RM100,980 in peninsular Malaysia. The Xpander in Malaysia is in its pre-facelift iteration and was first introduced in late 2020.
