Zeekr officially enters Singapore – first Southeast Asia destination, Malaysia next?

Geely’s luxury EV sub-brand, Zeekr, will be officially entering Singapore in 2024, after appointing Premium Automobiles Group as its authorised distributor for the island-nation. Retail sales for Zeekr is expected to begin in the first half of 2024, with first deliveries slated for June or July, the company said in a press release.

Premium Automobiles is also the authorised dealer for Audi in Singapore.

As reported by Sgcarmart, the Chinese EV brand will kickstart its operations in Southeast Asia with the Zeekr X and Zeekr 009. The former is a compact SUV built on the Scalable Electric Architecture 2 (SEA2) platform, making it closely related to the Smart #1 that was recently launched in Malaysia, while the latter is a large MPV that also forms the basis of the Volvo EM90.

Other models in the EV carmaker’s line-up also include the 001 shooting brake, as well as the recently unveiled the 007 sedan, although it’s unclear when the latter will make its way to export markets.

Singapore is one of the first right-hand drive markets for the Zeekr brand, alongside Hong Kong and Macau, as it accelerates its global expansion plans focusing on Europe and Asia. Speaking to The Business Times, a spokesperson from the Premium Automobile confirmed that the Zeekr models will “be priced more competitively” than German luxury brands such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

With Zeekr now in Singapore as its first step into Southeast Asia, could we soon see the Chinese EV brand make its way into Malaysia too? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
