Proton S70: Over 5,000 bookings received, 109 units registered so far



Launched in November last year, the Proton S70 has received an encouraging reception from the Malaysian market with over 5,000 bookings collected so far. With deliveries only beginning this year, Proton’s data also suggests that 109 units of the Proton S70 have been registered.

Marketed as a C-segment saloon by Proton, the Proton S70 is made available in 4 variants – Executive, Premium, Flagship, and Flagship X. Prices for the new saloon from Proton start from RM73,800 and top off at RM94,800.

The bookings and sales figures of the Proton S70 were announced together with the annual sales report of Proton which saw a 9.3% growth from 2022. Proton recorded a total sales of 154,611 units in 2023 and a total of 12,711 units sold in December alone. With the introduction of the S70, Proton expects more growth in 2024.

To recap, the powertrain for the Proton S70 is standard across the board and it is the brand’s 1.5-litre turbocharged multi-point injection (MPI) engine. It is the same engine found in variants of the Proton X50 and it outputs 150 hp (metric) and 226 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and power is sent to the front wheels only. The Proton S70 is also equipped with the full suite of advanced safety systems for the Flagship and Flagship X variants.
