GWM Thailand to launch CKD Ora Good Cat in January 2024

GWM Thailand will be launching its locally assembled (CKD) Ora Good Cat electric vehicle (EV) in January 2024, which will be made at the carmaker’s manufacturing plant in Rayong. This is a result of GWM’s earlier plans to locally assemble the Ora Good Cat and locally source its battery packs in Thailand.

Not many changes will be made towards the CKD Ora Good Cat in Thailand as compared to its current form, except for fewer colour choices. Variants offered with the CKD Ora Good Cat in Thailand will remain too. This includes the Pro, Ultra, and GT variants.

In Malaysia, the Ora Good Cat is fully imported from China, with two variants offered. This consists of the 400 Pro which is priced at RM140,500, and the 500 Ultra, priced at RM170,500. Both prices are on-the-road, without insurance.

GWM Malaysia also has plans to locally assemble its models in Malaysia. The carmaker recently appointed EP Manufacturing (EPMB) as its contract manufacturer to locally assemble and manufacture its models at the manufacturing company’s plant in Melaka.

The carmaker did not mention if the Ora Good Cat, the sole model it currently sells in Malaysia, will be included in its CKD plan. However, it did mention that, “Anticipated within this range are prominent models such as GWM SUV, pickup, and the cutting-edge electric vehicles.”
