The new Continental SportContact 7 combines performance & fuel efficiency – But how?

As a pioneer of mobility since 1871, pushing the envelope of tyre technology is central to Continental even though advances are typically measured in fine increments in the highly competitive Ultra Ultra High Performance (UUHP) class.

Continental had identified wet and dry performance, mileage and fuel efficiency as main areas of improvement for the new SportContact 7 and the result is a groundbreaking tyre that redefines performance in the flagship UUHP segment while elevating driving pleasure to a new level.

Three key technological innovations underpin the new SportContact 7 – Adaptive Pattern, Force Clustering and Harmonized BlackChili³ –all three elements combine to significantly improve not just the performance on road and track, but to also prolong the tyre life while offering greater fuel efficiency.

Continental SportContact 7’s Adaptive Pattern: No compromises in wet or dry

Imagine a tyre that’s able to react to changing road conditions and requirements of the drivers. On wet surfaces, the footprint of the SportContact 7 extends to the point of highest water extrusion for greater road contact, this increases grip when braking and accelerating. Additionally, the SportContact 7’s unique shoulder siping and lateral groove design allow for more effective water dissipation to prevent micro aquaplaning when cornering.

Under challenging situations in the dry, the lateral load of the vehicle usually shifts to the outer shoulder of the tyre. The SportContact 7 counters this though its unique interlocking tread design which is able to better resist cornering forces by limiting movement of the tread blocks, this in turn increases vehicle stability and steering response.

Continental SportContact 7’s Force Clustering: Tailored construction to suit different vehicles

To cater to modern vehicles that come in different body styles, weights and drivetrains, Continental has developed the new SportContact 7 to be the first ever tyre in the UUHP segment able to complement a wider range of vehicles.

Whether they are powered by electric, hybrid systems or internal combustion engines, Force Clustering ensures that the attributes and performance of the SportContact 7 remain the same across vehicles with different specifications, its tailor-made tyre construction takes into account sidewall stability, grip under specific loads, even high-speed demands of high-performance vehicles. Suffice to say, there is a SportContact 7 to suit your ride.

Harmonized BlackChili³: Optimum performance that lasts

In the SportContact 7, Continental further refined the innovative BlackChili formulation with the latest generation of resins and a new plasticizer to create an ultra-sticky compound that works in harmony with the low void tread design to attain a significant leap in tyre performance.

Manufactured exclusively at Continental’s Korbach factory in Germany, the new BlackChili³ compound has also been optimised to offer sustained performance over higher mileages. Compared to its predecessor, the SportContact 7 is 17% longer lasting and proves that tyre life need not be sacrificed for performance.

What do the critics say?

Don’t just take Continental’s word about the new SportContact 7. Experts in tyre testing and evaluation – Tyre Reviews of UK, Sportauto and Autobild of Germany – all picked the SportContact 7 as the winner in their respective group tests which featured other competitors in the UUHP class.

The editors of Autobild car magazine rated the SportContact 7 as “exemplary” while Sportauto appraised it as “Outstanding”. Jonathan Benson, presenter and editor of Tyre Review probably summed it up best when he described the SportContact 7 as the tyre that “sets a new benchmark” and is “in a league of its own” by being “the best in the wet and the best the in the dry, whilst still being fun to drive.”

The best UUHP tyre is available now in Malaysia

The new SportContact 7 can be found in Continental tyre dealerships across the country; sizes start from 18 inches and all the way up to 23 inches, with aspect ratios from 25 to 45 and tyre widths from 225mm to 335mm.
