General Tire, the US tyre brand owned by Continental Tyres, has officially launched in Malaysia. Aiming to meet the needs of Asian markets, the brand will be making its Malaysian debut with four models — Altimax GC5, Altimax GS6, Grabber AT6, and Grabber HT6.
Founded over a century ago in Ohio, USA, General Tire was acquired by Continental in 1987, and has since continued to produce tyres enhanced with Continental’s advanced technology. Here, it will be positioned as the more budget friendly options alongside the German brand’s lineup, as well as those from its Dunlop subsidiary.
For passenger vehicles, the range begins with the Altimax GC5. Targeted at more affordable cars, these are touring tyres designed to reduce noise, improve comfort, and increase fuel efficiency, with tyre sizes available in 14- and 15-inch options and priced from RM192.90, according to the brand’s listings on local e-commerce sites.
Moving up the range is the Altimax GS6. Like the GC5, it is a touring tyre for passenger vehicles, but it offers stronger grip for shorter braking distances along with longer tread life. Priced from RM217.90, the higher-end tyres are available in sizes from 15 to 19 inches.

For larger SUVs and 4×4 pickup trucks, General Tire offers the Grabber HT6. With “HT” denoting Highway Terrain, this tyre is designed for comfortable city and highway driving while delivering durability, comfort, and strong wet braking performance. Available in sizes from 16 to 18 inches, it is priced from RM371.90.
For more adventurous drivers, there is the Grabber AT6. Short for All-Terrain, this tyre provides robust off-road capability while keeping road noise low. Available in sizes from 16 to 20 inches, it is priced from RM510.90.
General Tire says it’s only in its first phase of product offering, hinting at a wider range of tyre options in the near future.
Moving forward, General Tire aims to expand its presence nationwide by taking advantage of the established marketing and support in digital platforms and dealer networks of Continental Tyres Malaysia. The new General Tire products are available through authorised Continental dealers nationwide and are also available in Continental’s official online stores on major e-commerce platforms.
