Video: 2023 Proton S70, the new C-segment contender

Specifications of Proton’s first sedan from its partnership with Geely, the 2023 Proton S70 have finally been confirmed. The car’s launch has also been confirmed to be happening very soon.

The 2023 Proton S70 is offered in the form of four variants. The sedan’s lineup starts with the Executive, Premium, Flagship, and is topped by the Flagship X variant. Even though it is officially positioned as a C-segment sedan, the S70 sits on top of Geely’s B-segment Modular Architecture.

On the outside, all variants of the 2023 Proton S70 are fitted with LED headlights, except for the entry-level Executive variant. However, the LED rear taillight bar is included as standard across the range.

Powering the 2023 Proton S70 is the 1.5-litre turbocharged MPI 3-cylinder engine and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) found in the lower variants of the Proton X50. This setup pushes out a total of 150 hp (metric) and 226 Nm to the front wheels.

The executive variant gets fabric seats and an 8-inch infotainment head unit, while higher variants are kitted with leatherette seats, along with a larger 12.3-inch infotainment head unit, and a 10.2-inch LCD meter combination, among other features. The top-spec Flagship X comes with a sunroof too.

Safety-wise, the entry-level Executive variant is equipped with 6 airbags and Lane Change Assist as standard, while the Premium variant gets a reverse camera too.

The higher-spec models get ADAS features, which include autonomous emergency braking (AEB), forward collision warning (FCW), rear collision warning (RCW), adaptive cruise control (ACC) with stop & go, lane departure warning (LDW) and more.
