Video: McLaren 750S First Drive Review – A driver’s best friend

We had the honour of being invited by McLaren to Lisbon, Portugal to check out and test drive McLaren’s new supercar, and also its most powerful series production model, the McLaren 750S.

Debuted globally back in April this year, the McLaren 750S looks like an upgraded 720S, which it is. It also looks very similar to the 720S in many aspects but in a more refined manner.

Other visual upgrades included with the 750S are an extended front splitter, new front and rear bumpers, a narrow eye-socket intake, new rear wheel-arch vents, and a lengthened carbon fibre active rear wing.

Powering the brand’s fastest series production supercar is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). This results in 739 hp and 800 Nm being sent to the rear wheels. The century sprint can be done in just 2.8 seconds, while the Spider variant only takes 0.1 seconds more.

Inside, the McLaren 750S has been designed to be even more driver-focused. There are a number of interior themes to choose from and it can be opted for with optional carbon fibre seats too.

The 750S also comes with a new column-mounted instrument display, flanked by rocker switches that control McLaren’s Active Dynamic settings. McLaren has also equipped its new supercar with a Bowers & Wilkins audio system, Apple CarPlay, along with USB-C and USB-A ports.

An additional feature that is made exclusive for the 750S is the new McLaren Control Launcher (MCL), which allows the driver to store a favourite combination of aero, handling, powertrain, and transmission settings.

However, the key question is, is the McLaren 750S as fun to drive as its spec sheet suggests? Follow Woon on his first drive review video to find out.
