Toyota Land Cruiser Se EV concept revealed – Brand’s first off-road EV SUV, monocoque chassis

As the Japan Mobility Show 2023 is nearing (taking place from October 28 to November 5), Toyota will be exhibiting some of its future concept models at its booth. Among the concept models is the Toyota Land Cruiser Se, which is essentially an all-electric concept model of the brand’s Land Cruiser luxury SUV.

Let’s get the Toyota Land Cruiser Se’s dimensions out of the way first. It measures 5,150 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,705 mm tall. Underpinning the concept electric vehicle (EV) SUV is a wheelbase that measures 3,050 mm in length.

Compared to the existing internal combustion engine (ICE) powered J300 Toyota Land Cruiser, the Land Cruiser Se concept is essentially longer and wider but is shorter by quite a bit, with the difference being a whole 245 mm. The same story goes for the recently launched J250 Land Cruiser, with the Land Cruiser Se being 165 mm shorter.

For the first time ever on a Land Cruiser, the Toyota Land Cruiser Se will be built on a monocoque body, which is said to offer “highly responsive handling and confidence in tackling rough terrain”.

Toyota describes its potential flagship EV SUV as elegant, and stylish, on top of being able to help create a comfortable cabin space when driving in both urban areas as well as other on-road situations. Being an EV, the concept EV SUV also benefits from having high amounts of torque and is also capable of delivering them in an instant, unlike traditional ICE-powered cars.

For the first time ever on a Land Cruiser, the Toyota Land Cruiser Se will be built on a monocoque body, which Toyota says offers “highly responsive handling and confidence in tackling rough terrain”.

Like the existing ICE-powered Toyota Land Cruiser, the all-electric concept will also feature a three-row layout, allowing you to ferry your family and friends around, even for longer journeys. Speaking of longer journeys, its electric range will certainly play a very important role, which the brand has yet to announce so far.
