Gallery: Mazda MX-30 High, RM199k Japanese EV with freestyle doors



Launched back in June 2022, the Mazda MX-30 is now available in Malaysia. Fully imported (CBU) from Japan, the fully-electric Mazda MX-30 crossover was introduced in two variants in Malaysia – Mid and High, although prices for the Mid variant have not been confirmed, the High variant of the Mazda MX-30 is priced at RM198,780.

From the outside, the Mazda MX-30 comes standard with equipment such as LED headlights, LED taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and heated side mirrors, along with 10 parking sensors – four in front and six at the rear. The High variant we have here is also packed with a powered sunroof and LED Signature headlights.

Built on the same platform as its sibling, the CX-30, the fully electric Mazda MX-30 packs a 35.5 kWh battery. This battery helps power an electric motor which drives the front wheels, resulting in a total of 143 hp and 271 Nm. Range-wise, the MX-30 is able to carry you as far as 199 km (WLTP).

Charging up the Mazda MX-30 takes around 5 hours using a 6.6 kW Type 2 AC charger. The 40 kW DC charger can help charge faster, taking 36 minutes to juice up the MX-30 to 80%.

Inside, equipment that is fitted to the Malaysian-spec Mazda MX-30 High as standard include a 7-inch LCD multi-info display, an 8.8-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a head-up display, dual-zone airconditioning, an electronic parking brake, gear shift paddles, two USB ports, and a reverse camera display. In addition, a Bose sound system with 12 speakers, a frameless rear-view mirror, 360-degree view display, seats wrapped with a mix of leatherette and fabric material, as well as 8-way powered seats with memory, lumbar, and heated function are also available with the MX-30 High.

In the safety department, Mazda has equipped the MX-30 with seven airbags, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop-Go function, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) for both front and rear, lane keep assist (LKA) and lane departure warning (LDW). Front cross-traffic alert (FCTA), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), and blindspot monitor (BSM) are also available.

The Mazda MX-30 in Malaysia comes with a 5-year/100,000 km manufacturer warranty, whichever comes first. An 8-year/160,000 km EV battery warranty is also provided, whichever comes first.
