Video: 2023 Volvo XC90 Recharge T8 Ultimate, with free 5-year service VSA5+



If you’re looking for a 7-seater family car that isn’t an MPV, consider the 2023 Volvo XC90. Two variants are available for this Swedish SUV, namely the B5 Ultimate which costs RM416,888, and the Recharge T8 Ultimate which costs RM432,888. The latter shall be the focus of our video in this entry.

From now until the 31st of March 2023, customers who place a booking for the Volvo XC90 (both the B5 mild-hybrid and the Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid variants) will also receive a complimentary five-year service package (VSA5+). The VSA5+ package provides comprehensive coverage for all of the car’s scheduled servicing needs within its first five years. This also includes wear and tear items that may need to be replaced.

Powering the 2023 Volvo XC90 Recharge T8 Ultimate is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system that consists of a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor to drive all 4 wheels. While the engine drives the front wheels, the electric motor drives the rear wheels. Combined, the hybrid system produces a staggering 462 hp and 709 Nm of torque.

Transmitting power to all wheels is an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2023 Volvo XC90 Recharge T8 Ultimate does 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds onward to a limited top speed of 180 km/h. The Recharge T8’s hybrid system has been given an update. Part of it is a bigger battery with an 18.8 kWh battery (from 11.6 kWh) that provides 77 km of pure electric range. The battery can be charged via 3.7 kW AC charging and this takes 5 hours to complete.

Besides the powertrain, the interior of the Volvo XC90 has also been updated, now with a head unit that runs on Android Automotive OS. The unit has its own Google Playstore, Google Maps, Google Assistant, and mobile data.
