2023 Perodua Axia scores 4 stars in ASEAN NCAP crash test, to launch soon

Set to launch soon, the ASEAN NCAP crash test result for the Perodua Axia has been released. On the all-new platform, the Perodua Axia managed to score a 4-star rating with a 73.55% overall weighted score.

New safety enhancements for the Perodua Axia include the introduction of 4 more airbags in the highest-tier variant, resulting in a total of 6 airbags overall. Lower-tier variants are still equipped with 2 airbags only for the time being.

Also new on the Axia is the availability of Perodua’s A.S.A 3.0 advanced safety system on the higher-tier variants. The third generation of Perodua’s safety system includes auto high beam (AHB), lane departure warning & prevention, blind spot monitoring (BSM), and rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA). However, the Axia doesn’t get the full suite of A.S.A. 3.0 as Lane Keep Control (LKC) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) are not available.

Standard safety equipment on the all-new Perodua Axia includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Pedestrian Protection technology, and Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for both frontal and rear seat occupants.

The crash test report shows the all-new Axia scoring 25.65/32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 43.43/51 in Child Occupant Protection (COP), 16.5/21 in Safety Assist (SA), and 7/16 in Motorcyclist Safety (MS). Combined, this results in a total weighted score of 73.55% and a 4-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

Currently, the all-new Perodua Axia is estimated to fetch a price of between RM38,600 to RM49,500. Prices have increased for all variants, but Perodua ensures that the improvements made to the car outweigh the much higher price tag. To date, 3,591 bookings have been made for the all-new Axia with most of them being for the SE and AV variants.
