Here it is everyone, the first images of the all-new Perodua Axia in camouflage with the official launch due to take place on February 14. To recap, the Axia is built on the new Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform with four variants available – G, X, SE and AV.

Tentative prices are RM38,600 for the G, RM40,000 for the X, RM44,000 for the SE and RM49,500 for the AV variant. According to Perodua, a total of 3,591 bookings have already been received for the new Axia. All variants will be powered by the carried-over 1.0-litre three-cylinder 1KR-VE VVT-i engine with 67 hp and 91 Nm.

New here is the Dual-mode CVT (D-CVT) gearbox replacing the four-speed automatic gearbox from before. The new Axia’s fuel consumption is rated at 27.4 km/L. The top two variants – SE and AV – comes with the ‘Eco Idle’ auto stop-start and Power Mode Drive features. The latter is positioned on the steering wheel, just like the Ativa.

On the outside, LED headlamps are available from the X variant onwards, while LED daytime running lights are offered in the top two SE and AV variants. The SE and AV variants also come with auto retractable side mirrors while the rest are electric-controlled units. Colour options include a new Coral Blue colour, Granite Grey, Lava Red, Glittering Silver, and Ivory White.

Moving inside, only the top-end AV variant gets two-tone semi-leather seats while the rest come with fabric seats. The same goes to the 9-inch touchscreen and the 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster as well, that’s exclusive only to the AV variant.

The Axia also gets significant upgrades on the safety front with the range-topping AV variant now fitted with six airbags – front, side and curtain. ABS, traction control, and vehicle stability control systems are standard across the board.
