Video: Peugeot 5008 – You pay for what you get, nothing more, nothing less!

If you’re in the market for a 7-seater SUV and want something European, the Peugeot 5008 is an option you could consider. Launched in Malaysia in a single “Allure” variant only, the Peugeot 5008 now fetches a price of RM183,288 with the SST exemption no longer around.

With its fang-like daytime running lights (DRLs) that also house the turn indicators, the Peugeot 5008 is easily recognized in a sea of “fangless” cars. The front end features a frameless grille and automatic headlights that also have an auto-cornering function. With its “alluring” looks, you might wonder what the 5008 is like to live with. For that, Dominic will tell you all you need to know about the 5008 in this video.

Powering the Peugeot 5008 is a 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 165 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm @ 1,400 rpm. Paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the drive system sends all power to the front wheels only. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.9 seconds and the 5008 has a top speed of 205 km/h.

Inside, the European uniqueness of the 5008 continues. You will first notice the unusual steering wheel that is smaller than that of the average car. The compact design requires you to look over the steering wheel to see the instrument cluster as opposed to seeing through it.

At the top of the dashboard is a 10-inch touchscreen head unit that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. The 5008 also has its own GPS navigation system.

In the safety department, the Peugeot 5008 comes with certain advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) functions. This includes Blind Spot Monitoring, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, and Speed Limit Recognition with Intelligent Speed Adaptation. It also has a 180° reverse camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and 6 airbags.

Now priced at RM183,288, the Peugeot 5008 also offers a five-year/100,000 km manufacturer’s warranty and a five-year/100,00 km free maintenance package.
