GWM Malaysia collects over 100 bookings for Ora Good Cat EV in just three days

Despite only being launched yesterday, Great Wall Motors Malaysia (GWM Malaysia) announced that it has already collected over 100 bookings for the Ora Good Cat EV.

The company adds that those bookings were also collected only across three days, during the recent Malaysia Motor Expo, where test drives for customers were limited, and pricing and detailed specifications were not announced yet.

“We want to thank our customers for placing their trust in Great Wall Motors, and we believe that you have made a correct decision,” said GWM ASEAN region President, Elliot Zhang, during the official launch event yesterday.

The Ora Good Cat also received widespread attention in Thailand, where the model made its debut in the region. Since its launch in the Land of Smiles in October last year, the Ora Good Cat has already received over 5,400 bookings in Thailand, with just under 4,200 units delivered to date, excluding fleet buyers.

Offered here in Malaysia in two variants, namely the 400 Pro and 500 Ultra, the Ora Good Cat is priced from RM139,800, making it the most affordable EV here on our shores to date. The compact EV hatchback is powered by a single electric motor on the front axle, capable of outputting 105 kW (143 hp) and 210 Nm.

Depending on variant, the motor is paired to either a 47.8 kWh or 63.1 kWh battery pack, giving the Ora Good Cat 400 km or 500 km of range respectively (NEDC test cycle), and thus their variant names.

In order to provide its customers in Malaysia with added peace of mind, the company has committed to establishing a “high-quality dealer network”. Five 3S outlets are already operational, and will expand to 15 outlets by the end of 2023, covering 70% of major cities in Malaysia, and 90% of car users nationwide.

The aftersales service network will also be built around a spare parts centre in Shah Alam, which will begin operations in December this year. GWM Malaysia assures that spare parts’ availability will be maintained by committing to a higher initial volume at launch, then regulating the stockpile based on actual volume requirements after the brand is fully established in the market.
