Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric updated for 2023, now from RM 279k



Receiving over 400 orders since its Malaysian launch in March this year, the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric has been updated today for 2023. An array of changes have been made to the all-electric XC40, and it now fetches a price of RM 278,888. Together with the update of the all-electric version, the B5 and T5 versions of the XC40 also receive the facelift.

Refreshed on the exterior of the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric are a new front bumper and a new front panel (or grille). The new bumper sports a more aggressive fog light cluster while the new panel is much more rounded and simplified on the updated version.

Also new on the outside are a new set of 19-inch 5-Double Spoke Black Diamond Cut wheels. In addition to that, a new ‘Fjord Blue’ exterior colour is now offered. The other four colours offered are “Black Stone”, “Thunder Grey”, “Crystal White”, and “Sage Green”.

On the inside, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric gets a new Charcoal Connect Suede upholstery, replacing the previous Charcoal leather/Nubuck textile upholstery. There is also a new gear lever that has been made with leather-free materials, a PM2.5 remote air purifier, and an updated Foot Movement Detection Module (FMDM).

Volvo Car Malaysia Managing Director, Charles Frump said, “The astounding success of the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric tells me we are moving in the right direction with our all-electric journey. Powering the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is still the same dual-motor setup that gives the car an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. Making 408 hp (metric) and 660 Nm, the electric drive system launches the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Power is stored in a 78-kWh battery pack that provides 438 km of range (WLTP).

As for charging, the Volvo XC40 Recharge P8 is capable of 150-kW DC fast charging and 11-kW AC charging. With 150-kW DC fast charging, the XC40 Recharge P8 can charge from 0 to 80% in just 40 minutes. With 11-kW AC charging, it takes 8 hours and 15 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%.

The model year 2023 updates are also available to the XC40 Recharge T5 Ultimate (Plug-in Hybrid) and XC40 B5 Ultimate (Mild Hybrid) with both priced at RM268,888. They will also receive a facelift to their design which includes a Dynamic Chassis change.
