Next-gen Toyota Vios teased ahead of August 9 debut – fastback silhouette, red interior!

Toyota Thailand has just confirmed via a teaser video today that the next-generation Vios will make its official debut on August 9, or just about two weeks from now.

The teaser video also gave us a brief glimpse at what we can expect on the all-new B-segment sedan, including the car’s overall silhouette, which seems to take on a fastback-like shape with its raked rear windscreen.

The headlights look to be inspired by the Toyota Corolla, and flank a massive Camry-esque grille that makes up much of the front fascia. Moving over to the back, the teaser video also shows off the all-new Toyota Vios’ sleek LED taillights, replete with sequential turn indicators.

Only one single shot of the interior can be seen in the video, which shows off the next-generation Toyota Vios’ sleek dashboard finished in a striking maroon colour, with a freestanding touchscreen infotainment display up top. The horizontal layout and clean lines even reminds us of Mazda interiors!

Technical information on the all-new Toyota Vios remains scarce at the moment, but Thai publication Headlight Magazine suggests that the B-segment sedan will be offered with two powertrain options in the Kingdom, including a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine specifically designed in-line with the country’s eco-car regulations, as well as a 1.5-litre hybrid mill to put it right up against the all-new Honda City.

The former will most likely be exclusive to Thailand, with the rest of the world’s most likely retaining the same or similar 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated mill. As for the latter, Headlight Magazine reports that it’ll most likely be a Hybrid THS-II system, consisting of a 1.5-litre four-cylinder DOHC petrol engine and an electric motor.

More information on the all-new Toyota Vios should be coming out soon ahead of the launch, so keep your eyes peeled!
