Mercedes-Benz has launched the new GLA35 AMG 4MATIC, alongside the updated A35 AMG sedan at the Sepang International Circuit.
If you act now (before the 30th of June 2022 when the SST exemptions expire) the GLA35 AMG can be yours for RM345,048.74 but after that, it’ll set you back RM363,888. Despite SST exemptions for new cars ending on the 30th of June, those who register their cars before the 31st of March 2023, will still be entitled to it.
The GLA35 AMG is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 306 hp and 400 Nm, just like the A35 AMG. The engine is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission to drive all four wheels via the AMG Performance 4MATIC system.
0 to 100 km/h is done in a brisk 5.2 seconds. Select the “Sport +” drive mode, and you’ll even get launch control to sprint off the line quicker.
On the outside, the GLA35 AMG stands out from the standard GLA with a Panamericana grille, 20-inch wheels similar to the GLB35, larger brakes, a rear spoiler, and of course more aggressive front and rear bumpers. The headlamp design on the GLA35 is also different; with three separate projectors along with the Multibeam LED and Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus technology, against the dual projectors in the GLA250.
Inside, the GLA35 comes with an AMG Performance steering with switches for the drive modes and transmission settings, just like the AMG A45. AMG influences can also be seen on the door sills and floor mats along with switches on the centre console that allows users to go through different suspension, and transmission settings.
Sport seats are standard; you don’t get the massive bucket seats like in the AMG A35 but you do get red seat belts from Mercedes-Benz Manufaktur, a head-up display, and carbon trims by the dashboard and door panel. A Burmester sound system and wireless charging are also standard items.
For safety and driver aids, there are features 360-degree display with Active Parking Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blindspot Assist, Active Brake Assist, Lane Tracking and Exit Warning Assist.
