Facts & Figures: Locally-assembled Mercedes-AMG A35 4MATIC sedan now with new features!

Alongside the GLA35 AMG 4MATIC, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also introduced an updated version of the AMG A35 sedan with more features onboard. Like the GLA35 AMG 4MATIC, the AMG A35 sedan is also locally-assembled.

Prices for the AMG A35 sedan start from RM325,090 with SST exemptions, but book one after the 30th of June and the AMG A35 4MATIC sedan will cost an extra RM18k, at RM343,888.

Cutting straight to the chase, not much has changed on the exterior of the A35 sedan which was launched in September 2019. It still gets the same grille design, 19-inch wheel design, and AMG body kit from before, along with Multibeam LED headlamps with Adaptive High Beam Assist Plus.

In fact, the bulk of the changes lies on the inside. As it is now a locally-assembled model, the A35 sedan has been fitted with more features and they include creature comforts like a head-up display, wireless charging, MBUX Interior Assistant, and switches on the AMG Performance steering wheel.

Otherwise, the bulk of the interior remains the same. You still get the same dashboard trims from before, 64-colour ambient lighting, AMG door sills and floor mats, a head-up display, dual 10.25-inch digital displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Burmester sound system.

Under the hood, the powertrain remains unchanged. The A35 sedan soldiers on with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 306 hp and 400 Nm to drive all four wheels. Unlike the GLA35 AMG that’s equipped with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, the A35 AMG sedan is fitted with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission instead.

Between the two new AMG35 models launched today, the A35 AMG 4MATIC sedan is still the quicker model, getting from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds while the heavier GLA35 AMG does it in 5.2 seconds.
