Mercedes-Benz Malaysia to launch product assault in tandem with “biggest” global push

Mercedes-Benz has just embarked on its “biggest ever launch campaign”, with some 40 models set to be launched globally within the next two years. And according to Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s new CEO and President, Martin Schulz, the aggressive push will also be carried over to our market, with several cars to be launched here over the coming years.

Not all cars launched globally will make it over to Malaysia, naturally, and the company cannot yet commit to a firm number of models that will arrive here on our shores, given the “dynamic market situation” currently. However, Schulz promised that “quite a portion” of the global lineup will indeed be launched here in Malaysia.

“It really depends on our customers’ demands and preferences. We have a wide range of our product portfolio, and I think for Malaysia, it is on us then to see what are the right products to introduce to the market,” Schulz told AutoBuzz.my during a roundtable during a recent media drive event.

Many of those models will also continue to be assembled right here in Malaysia, with Schulz adding that localisation remains one of the company’s key strategic pillars, although he stopped short of naming any future CKD models. The company was one of the first few marques to locally assemble full battery electric vehicles here in Malaysia, starting with the EQS500 4Matic back in 2023.

Nevertheless, the model that will kick off the product launch assault will most likely be the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA, which will be making its official debut sometime in 2026, after being previewed locally earlier this year.

Schulz revealed that the “first units” of the model is currently arriving into the country, and will be making their way to various locations nationwide soon for its customers to experience and test drive ahead of an official launch.

Aside from cars, the company will also be unveiling a range of campaigns celebrating the marque’s 140-year anniversary, including the latest “Flex” campaign highlighting the company’s Agility+ financing plan that is now available for all model in its lineup. In line with the “140” theme, the refreshed plan now offers a one-year extended warranty, four-times free compact service, and a “zero-worry” guaranteed future value for every vehicle financed through the service.

As always, customers only need to pick at the end of their tenure if they would like to settle (pay the outstanding amount and own the vehicle), extend (split the outstanding amount into separate instalments), or return the vehicle – not only making it more accessible, but also more hassle-free for customers to drive a Mercedes-Benz.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLA200 and GLA250 Nightfall Editions are available from a monthly payment as low as RM2,688 and RM2,998 respectively through Agility+ financing.

“I truly believe it’s not about selling a car; it’s about a relationship that we engage with the customer, the customer experience. Often, it is a continuation of a relationship, but also [in] many cases a new relationship that we want to build up. And I want to make sure that every touchpoint becomes a proof point of that relationship,” Schulz said when outlining his plans for the Malaysian market in the coming years.

“I want to deliver on these expectations and actually over-deliver… It’s always good to have a little surprise,” he added, hinting that there might be more exciting offerings aside from just its upcoming product portfolio.
