Volvo Car Malaysia today unveiled the Volvo XC90 B5 Inscription Plus, a new variant of the popular SUV joining the Recharge T8 Inscription Plus in the XC90’s local line-up. As the ‘B5’ in the name suggests, the new variant is equipped with a new mild-hybrid powertrain, and will replace the existing T5 AWD Momentum model here in Malaysia.
The new B5 variant is priced at RM386,842.12 on-the-road, without insurance, and inclusive of the SST exemptions until the 30th of June, 2022 (100% here by the way, as the car is locally-assembled in Malaysia), placing it just approximately RM7,000 lower than the Recharge T8.
EXTERIOR
The all-new XC90 B5 variant wears the same Inscription Plus package as the aforementioned range-topping variant, and thus looks pretty much identical to the plug-in hybrid variant from the outside. Standard equipment on the new B5 variant include:
- Inscription grille and exterior trims in chrome
- Full LED headlights with Active High Beam and Active Bending Lights
- LED daytime-running lights
- 20-inch 10-spoke black diamond cut alloy wheels, 275/45 profile tyres
PERFORMANCE
The main highlight of the new variant is, of course, the new mild hybrid powertrain underneath the bonnet. The B5 powertrain is not new to our parts of the world, having previously been introduced on the updated XC60.

Also included in the price is a five-year unlimited mileage warranty as standard.
