Video: All-new Honda Civic RS tested in Sepang! – AutoVlog

It’s almost Christmas, and Honda Malaysia has just given us one of the best gifts a car guy would want. Just a week after the launch of the City Hatchback (which we also tested in Sepang), Honda Malaysia has invited us over to the SIC once again to have a first taste of the all-new Honda Civic – and what a treat it was.

We’ll let you be the judge on its looks, because after all, looks are subjective. But if you ask me, I’d say that this might be one of the best-looking Civics ever. I know, I know – you can flame me in the comments below.

The only variant that was shown off during the preview event was the range-topping RS variant, which comes with additional sportier trims and blacked-out elements all around the exterior. And, I mean, the 18-inch wheels themselves are already basically a boyracer’s wet dream.

But since we went all the way to Sepang, what we were more interested to find out is, of course, how it drives. You can find our full first drive review here, where we go into a lot more details in its specifics. But in short, it’s actually pretty good.

The all-new Honda Civic comes with the same 1.5-litre turbocharged VTEC four-cylinder engine as before, but with its output uprated to 182 hp and 240 Nm of torque. The CVT gearbox also remains from before, but it’s pretty clear that Honda has done some upgrading works to it for better response – it even feels like a conventional auto ‘box when you’re flipping through the gears by yourself!

Honda Malaysia is still a little mysterious about showing the car’s interior, so we’ll have to wait a little while longer until the launch to show you its cabin. But from what we’ve experienced in our short stint inside the car, all we can say is that it feels a lot more premium now, and the seating position also feels just spot on.

There’s a lot to look forward to, and we can’t wait to see them on our Malaysian roads.
