All-new Honda Civic previewed for Malaysia – RS variant, now open for booking!

Surprise, surprise! Hot off the press from the launch of the City Hatchback, Honda Malaysia has now announced that the all-new 11th-generation Civic will also be launched here on our shores “soon”, and is now open for booking.

Information is scarce at this juncture, with the company only revealing one of the available variants – the first-ever Civic RS – to the media at a preview event in Sepang yesterday. Even then, members of the media were also only furnished with a couple of hand-picked specifications, with the entire interior of the car being further embargoed until the launch date.

With that being said though, we do know that the RS variant will be the range-topping model in the line-up, and is equipped with several sportier design elements on the outside. These include black ring inserts in the headlights, RS emblems on the front and rear, 18-inch matte black five-dual-spoke wheels, and gloss black garnishes on the windows, door handles, side mirrors, shark fin antenna, and ducktail spoiler.

As for equipment on the outside, the headlights are fully-LED items with unique daytime-running light signature, and gets auto on-off and auto high beam functionalities. The same light signature is also mirrored on the back for the tail lights, which are LED combination items.

The all-new Honda Civic is also available with an RS variant in Thailand, although with a slightly different specifications!

The 11th-gen Honda Civic RS will be powered by the same 1.5-litre turbocharged VTEC four-cylinder engine, with output bumped up to 182 hp and 240 Nm of torque, which is 9 hp and 20 Nm more than its predecessor. The engine is paired to a CVT gearbox, although Honda Malaysia did not provide any performance figures.

As for safety, the range-topping Civic variant will be equipped with the full suite of the Honda Sensing advanced driver assistance features, now with nine features thanks to the addition of a Lead Car Departure Notification System.

Other standard features in the Honda Sensing suite include Adaptive Cruise Control with low-speed follow, Lane Keep Assist System, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking System, and Auto High Beam.

On the passive safety front, the all-new Honda Civic RS will get six airbags as standard. However, the older Honda LaneWatch technology is still carried over onto the 11th-gen car, instead of the newer, more advanced blind spot monitoring system.

Just like the outgoing model, the all-new Honda Civic will also come with convenience features such as walk-away auto lock and remote engine start via the key fob.

No pricing details have been announced just yet, but the all-new Honda Civic is now open for booking at Honda dealerships nationwide. As usual, keep your eyes peeled on AutoBuzz.my as we bring you all of the latest information on the highly-awaited 11th-gen Honda Civic!
