UMW Toyota maintains 2021 sales target, more sales promos in coming months



With business activities in the automotive sector now allowed to resume, UMW Toyota Motor is confident of a swift recovery despite sales being affected in June, July, and August.

As such, the company said the sales target for Toyota and Lexus vehicles in 2021 remains unchanged. In June, UMW Toyota said it had set a sales target of 62,000 units for 2021.

“It has certainly been challenging for us but we understand the necessity of the actions taken by the Government to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. On our part, we have made sure that our workforce has been vaccinated so that we can safely resume operations at our facilities around the country,” said UMW Toyota Motor, President, Ravindran. K.  

In August, totals sales for Toyota and Lexus vehicles were 2,524 units, 56% lower than the same month in 2020. On a more positive note, total sales between January to August of 2021 were 38,085 units. The figure was 31,734 units in the same period last year.

“We will be having sales promotions in the coming months so if you are shopping for a new vehicle, look out for them. Our loyal customers are also not forgotten and we will soon announce a new program that will reward them for their loyalty to the brand over more than five decades,” Ravindran added.

For now, UMW Toyota said it has a small backlog of orders to meet due to the showdown but expects to deliver the new vehicles within a reasonable time.
