Kia bags top prizes at the 2021 Russian Car Awards

The Russians have shown their love for Kia vehicles as the company scooped up awards in six categories out of 23 in the Russian Car of the Year Awards.

Over 1.5 million Russian citizens cast their votes online on all vehicles currently sold in Russia from 1st of February to 1st of June 2021. It is the largest research project in the country’s automotive industry.

For the first time, the Korean car manufacturer also picked up the “Favourite Brand in Mass Segment” award. The other awards conferred to Kia are as follows:

Kia Carnival – Winner of Minivans category
Kia K5 – Winner of Mid-size SUV and Business Class SUV
Kia Seltos – Winner of Compact SUV category
Kia Picanto – Winner of Urban car category

“The requirements for a car among Russians are much higher than in other markets due to difficult road and climate conditions. As such, Russians have higher expectations for a car as a reliable assistant for all occasions,” said the company’s spokesperson.

All this isn’t a fluke. The Picanto for example has been scooping up the “Urban Car” award for the 6th year in a row now. The Seltos on the other hand, launched in Malaysia not long ago, beat its rivals to the award for the second consecutive year.

Kia remains Russia’s best-selling foreign brand for seven consecutive years, with over 200,000 units sold annually for three years in a row. Recently the company achieved a milestone of two million vehicles cars sold in Russia since 2009 (the year when the local distributor office was founded).
